This class with award-winning NPR journalist, Jason Beaubien, will show you how to turn your podcast idea into an episode available on Apple podcasts. Whether you want to create an audio story similar to an episode of This American Life, a chatfest between two knitting experts, a weekly update for your small business, a family history or some other audio production, this class is for you.
Audio production experience is not necessary (but of course, if you have it, that’s great!). Expensive recording equipment is also not necessary (but again if you have it, that’s great, too!) If you have a smartphone and a laptop, you have everything you need to be publishing your own podcasts for free on Apple, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
This course will go over how to craft a compelling narrative for the ear, conduct quality audio interviews, and the basics of editing/mixing audio and publishing your podcast.
The class will be conducted in-person with a limited number of students. Participants should expect to put in additional time outside of class conducting interviews, writing, editing, reworking and mixing your project.
